The Quarantine Agreement

An agreement for people and families to safely remain in community

Our Pact for Each Other:

The purpose of these agreements is to enable a greater freedom to socialize among the group, while minimizing the risk of exposure and providing a measure of protection to all of the group members.

The only way this agreement works is if all members adhere to the guidelines below and communicate any struggles or specific needs with the group. It is vital we trust the group with these challenges and allow the group to make a decision that protects all of us equally.

Social Contact

  • We agree to limit in-person social interactions to only those within this group. This includes going to a friend’s house or having them over to your house as well as socializing in public places.
  • In the event that we socialize in-person with anyone outside of this group in any way, we agree to self-quarantine.

Public Contact

  • We agree to avoid any contact with or exposure to the public at large. This includes being in any indoor space other than a group member’s home, including stores and doctors’ offices or other healthcare facilities.
    • Contactless curbside pick up is allowed (and encouraged) by this agreement, provided that all guidelines for surface and environment contact listed below are followed.
  • In the event that we must enter a public building for any reason, we agree to self-quarantine.
  • We agree to wear a mask in public at all times except when socializing or exercising with the group in outdoor public areas not in contact with people outside of the group.
    • For instance – we may hike together without masks, but if the trail is busy/crowded and we pass others who are not in our group, we will wear a mask.
  • We agree to maintain 6 feet of distance (aka social distancing) from anyone outside of the group when in outdoor public areas.

Surface/Environment Contact

  • We agree to limit exposure to surfaces that others may have touched such as grocery bags, shopping carts, gas pumps, door handles, etc.
  • When unavoidable, we agree to sanitize or wash our hands before contacting any other surface. Thoroughly washing hands for 20 seconds is always preferable to sanitizing only.
  • We agree to wash or sanitize incoming packaging, whether boxes, envelopes, or groceries and dispose of any unneeded packaging as soon as possible
    • Alternatively, if possible, it is permissible to leave packaging untouched for three days by moving it to a secure “quarantine location” and leaving it untouched for 72 hours. Group members must immediately wash their hands after moving the packages to said location.
  • We agree to avoid/limit to-go food that can’t be cooked, re-heated, or washed.

Self-Quarantine

  • If, for any reason, we break an agreement above and must self-quarantine, we agree to self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days before resuming in-person contact with the group.
  • We agree to communicate to the full group any time we must self-quarantine and make them aware of our self-quarantine timeline.

Our Group Family

We are in this together. We agree to reach out to the group any time we’re struggling with these agreements. Further, the group agrees to extend grace and understanding to group members – we’re forming an extended family and we should act accordingly. We agree to find solutions together that are supportive of the struggles we’re all going through, while keeping the group safe.

Updated Guidelines

The group agrees to revisit this agreement as trusted scientific and medical guidance on the pandemic response changes, however any and all changes must be agreed to by the entire group.
